San Bartolomé unanimously agreed to appoint as "adopted son" of the municipality to doctors Josep Brugada, Ramon Brugada and Fernando Wangüemert in recognition of his discovery of the gene for sudden death.

Their work in clinical and genetic research has contributed in an extraordinary way to improve the health of the citizens of the region of Las Tirajanas.

The title will be delivered this Friday October 21 at 19.30 in Expomeloneras Congress in a ceremony within the program of the Congress of Cardiovascular Diseases SEC 2011, considered the most important annual event in Spain, which this year is expected to draw more than 3,500 cardiologists, in the southern district.

The official ceremony will be attended by the mayor, Marco Aurelio Perez, the Councillor of Interior, Elena Alamo.

Joining them will be present the president of the Spanish Society of Cardiology, Carlos Macaya and the Canary Foundation President Umiaya Care Sudden Death, Carmelo Perez, who is the driving force behind this initiative that hosts the municipal corporation.
